My son discovered the alarm on the freezer sounding off today and the food starting to thaw. He thought someone had left the door open, but having had it on fast freeze for several hours the temp is still dropping and now the fan appears to have stopped working.

I have only had the freezer since mid April so its not wear and tear.

If anyone has any experience of this with a Frigidaire I would be really grateful.

Unfortunately its too late for the helpline or to get in touch with anyone to put the food in their freezer, so its all going to be ruined.

Ensure door is kept closed for the moment…… The retained coldness of the food in the freezer will be good for at least 12 hours if you don’t open the door and let it out. Be nice to your neighbours in the morning – they will be surprisingly sympathetic.

After that, send for the engineers……

Thanks for the advice, but having checked the food recently think it may be too far gone. The last temperature showing was -1 but now the fan has stopped completely and there are no more noises, like normal.

I’ve tried pressing a couple of the buttons together and it appears to start the fan then displays H2 and goes quiet again. Appears to do a countdown from 100 as well but nothing happens at the end of it.

There is no information in the instructions about these displays which isn’t very helpful.
