friends of ours have a hotpoint mistrale frost free fridge freezer that expels warm air from the bottom front grill. Having one of these would overcome by wifes kitchen phobia since her flimsy excuse of cold kitchen tiles would no longer be valid. I have been told the mistrale range is no longer produced. Any ideas as to what has replaced it with similar qualities?

Are we talking about an integrated unit here or a free standing one? Most integrated frost free appliances will vent warm air (providing the ventilation has been set up properly in the first place!!….) through the lower ducts, so a search for integrated fridge freezers should set you on your way.

Free standing units tend to let the heat escape naturally up the rear of the appliance.

Thanks Penguin. I was talking about free standing. Do you know of any free standing types that vent warm air through the front or has she won the argument. Slippers chip her nail varnish so thats not an option.

    Fraid you lose this one…..

This Hotpoint has a closed in compressor bay and both breathes and expells using the front grill, hence the warm air.

Never be enough to take the chill out of floor tiles, sorry.

How about buying a plinth heater which is much more suited to warming the floor area.

Thanks very much Kevin. Can fit plinth heater under units at other side of kitchen but tiles only cold around back door where fridge freezer situated. Need new fridge freezer anyway so hoping to kill two birds with one stone. Could always change the missus I suppose
