KeymasterI do hope you’ve not already thought of this and dismissed it.
As our site is good at helping people both trade and public, how about we ask for donations towards running costs. after all we are skint without the P&G contract and we all do so much for free. Yeah, I know it’s not free, really.
Therefore we have a button (or something) where a member of the public can donate a £1.00 or so for the help he/she has received. Perhaps they can pay into paypal???
It seems to me with 1000’s of visitors we could fund plenty with this route to income.
What you guys think

It’s something I’ve thought of quite a bit to be honest…
Being the type of person who seeks free/cheap info/software etc from wherever, there’s 1000’s of sites that do exactly this.
Personally I don’t have an issue with it as purely a donation but we would have to feed some of it back to the moderators I think as they “cover our arses” a hell of a lot of the time 🙂
The Paypal thing is easily done.
Dunno……..

Yes Dave, but don’t forget that the mods are getting a decent xmas bash out of us 😆
Another one for you all to think about……
A one off registration fee to join the Insurance scheme for repairs@.
Just a thought, because there’s quite a few who we don’t know, have never met, and upto now we have taken all the info supplied on trust, if we are to “visit” them it will help pay for it.

I know you see the donation buttons all over the place but they don’t seem to work. Most sites report that they earn very little, if anything from them.
Then there’s the argument of where the money should go and who handles it, which is something Sean started on about a long, long time ago. To my mind there are costs attached to the running of UKW end of story and the bills have to be paid but I can’t see this helping any.
I know what you mean Kev and I’m not trying to be negative, I just see it as more hassle then it’s worth in all honesty.

KeymasterI think we need to think about this, well not this per say, but something, you’re right. I just don’t think that this is the way to do it. 😕
