ParticipantHi Penguin45
Thanks for your previous suggestion about the level sensor
“Water level drop not detected by the electronics. Full of water = no spin (regardless of whether it’s full or not!). With the machine fully empty, remove the airhose to the level sensor and blow back through to clear any water from the hose. If the problem persists, it is likely that the sensor itself has failed. It is part of the motor controller board and will have to be replaced as a unit.”
This is what happened next…do you have any ideas?
Blew in the hose …got the machine to finally spin out the water bit by bit until it was empty. When it was completely empty, I blew in the hose again and I got it to spin beautifully on the spin cycle.
I went to test the machine with a small load. It got to rinse, pumped out the water and then stopped. I left it on with the led still on rinse and suddenly after about a minute, it started to spin. I thought it had worked but it is still stuck with the rinse led on and the machine is full of suds. It keeps activating the pumping and then spins and sprays again but the machine stays full of suds. There is also some water leaking from underneath the machine. If I advance to spin, it aso won’t spin. Sometimes if I turn the machine off at power for a while…I can get it to work.
Does this mean the sensor has gone? Do you think there may be something wrong with the pump? Most grateful for your help.

First rinse light staying on is a user warning that the machine is over-foamed – this can fool the pressure sensor. Run in some fabric conditioner to kill the froth and try running the rinse cycles again. Worth checking the flow from the drain hose as it may possibly be kinked or the pump partially blocked.
Sounds like you’realmost there……….

Had a look underneath the machine at pump as I want to see if it is blocked. How do I get the pump off to have a look? It seems to be fixed…but I am sure I had read other posts which mentioned it just twists off. Do i have to unscrew anything?
Thanks again

It’s OK I managed to twist the pump off. Didn’t look blocked from what I could see but some metal parts of the pump look a bit coroded. Would this affect the pump at all?
Thanks

If it’s just a few rusty spots, probably not. If the rust has got hold properly and is forcing the laminated plates of the winding apart, it’s time to replace it.

Oh no. Don’t know what I’ve done now but when I turn the machine on, all the lights stay lit. When I press start the top row of lights flash from side to side. There also seems to be a slight humming sounds coming from the electronics. I also discovered that the pump is leaking badly and thought I could just replace the pump but now this has happened.

Sounds like you’ve got it into demonstration mode…….. Early machines can do this on their own due to conensation problems. Unplugging it for a few minutes should put it back to normal operation.
Leak – if it didn’t leak before the pump was pulled, it has to be to do with the sealing ring. Make sure all surfaces and seals are clean and the lugs fully engaged.

Hi i’ve just bought a replacement for my old trusty 051 – so, i’ve got my old machine and some spare parts for a day or so. Including a working blue box (computer boards). Let me know if you (or anybody else) is interested – guess I could unscrew the pump too, it’s relatively new. Happy to provide any bits to a good home. Geoff (Melbourne)
