I want to buy a new dishwasher, but everytime I buy one from a High street retailer, they tell me they can’t install it because I ahve a fused spur switch and not a normal 3 pin plug. They tell me that the models come with a moulded plug and if I cut the plug off and install it into the circuit I am invalidating the warranty so I have to keep cancelling the order. Anyone knwo where I can buy a dishwasher I can install into a closed circuit and not invalidate warranty? Thanks

    Re: FUSED SPUR CIRCUIT DISHWASHER

    Hi

All dishwashers have moulded plugs. That said why not simply replace the switched spur with a single 13A switched socket? They are the same size so the existing back box can be used. Don’t forget to isolate the power first 😉

I have seen and done loads of dishwashers and washing machines on spurs over the years and I have yet to hear of a manufacturer invalidating a guarantee as a result.

Or it could be that the installers can’t or won’t connect to a spur.

    HTH 🙂
