this is not better than corgi

another monopoloy extracting money under the guise of safety
Its ALOT better than Corgi, the qualifying standards as mentioned in this thread are exactly the same as before gas safe but gas safe arent making money by selling my details to third party suppliers (as corgi are still doing) or forcing me to register new installs with them as Corgi were, only yesterday I was sent a “unsafe procedures manual” for free (£19 from Corgi), The gas safe register also has a maximum profit amount set so they cant become a cash cow like Corgi did.

I have to disagree . Despite working with gas, domestic and commercial for over 27 years, because I have started up on my own, i am treated by gas safe as if i just left college.
i am on probation for 3 months ( just been extended further 3 months ), have to notify every piece of gas equipment i work on, regardless of wether the gas is disturbed ;and for the privelege i have to pay something like an extra £200 this year on top of the ridiculous fee they charge already because i am “new ”
i have had to put their e mail addy in spam as i am sick to the back teeth of getting constant selling from them, and now they have started ringing me to do the same.
i thought corgi were bad – this lot leave them standing !Sorry but which bit of what you have said is different to Corgi ? You do realise that the “ridiculous fee” they charge is less than the equivalent Corgi fee’s dont you ? Corgi also chaged an extra £200 for people who were “new” like I had to pay 3 years ago when I went self employed, even though like yourself I had been qualified and Corgi registered with various companies for around 20 years before it was even compulsary.
Another plus of Gas Safe is that they have made a promise to use any excess profits to cut the price of registration.

On the emails part I have not had one from them, what email address is it that you are recieving spam from ? I cant even think of anything they have to sell as they dont have anything like “Corgi-direct” set up as far as I know.

have to agree with you wsts,i only get mail from corgi direct, nothing from gas safe :rolls: i know the initial outlay can be high, just think if you wanted to be an electrician, they pay a lot more annually,it all depends on what area of work you want to enter, and if you can make it profitable, every step we take is a risk, the choice is yours 8) 8)
