I removed the glass lid from my hob in order to clean it. It has three screws in each of the back two corners, these screw into a rubber block attached to a spring. My problem is that the rubber block is facing back towards the wall, and the springs are too strong to lever them into a flat position to re-fit the lid. The only way I can see to fit this is to remove the fitted oven below or the gas hob, but this would end up getting a gas safe plumber to fit it back in. Is there a way to release the springs or the tension? I can see that the springs have a foot that pushes on to the hinge wheel but I have no idea how to release them or refit. Should I just lever them out with a screwdriver,
    any advice?

    Many thanks,

Personally, I don’t know but I’d bet that a make and model number would help the guys to help you if they can.

    Fair point.

The oven is a New World CKE 13543. I don’t know what the hob bit is as it’s built in to the worktop.

I got a guy around to lend a hand. The solution turns out to be to remove the hinges by removing the pin clips and pins, re-attaching the hinges then pinning back in place. Not entirely easy but it worked.
