I think my fridge/freezer is leaking gas. It has been unplugged for 2 weeks and there is a strange smell coming from it. There is no food in either compartment. I have tried leaving the doors open to see if it makes a difference, but it doesn’t. Could this be harmful to my health in any way?

No and it won’t be a gas leak as it’s a sealed system so unless you’ve physically damaged it it’s highly unlikely that there’s a leak, refrigerant gas doesn’t smell anyway. 😉
It will be food residues/bacteria/mould somewhere in the machine.
