When looking on the new Gas Safe website to make sure my details were correct I found that there is a section that says “View our engineers” for each registration.
On clicking the link, up pops my photo originally taken for the Corgi card.Can Gas Safe do this legally without asking?? Now people can see on the Web where I live, what I do and what I look like. I think this even heightens the chance of identity theft.
I’d be interested to hear what others think of this as the appearance of the engineer on the web could put cutomers off just because he looks too fat/thin/unshaven/young/old etc etc – or just a bad hair day photo.
The site does not take into account the fact that some companies often sub out a job here and there to another Gas Safe engineer and so the picture on the registration might not be the same person that attends.
Any comments !!!!

Yet another ill thought out aspect ! mind you protecting data is not the Goverments strong point is it ? of course unless its to do with their MP expenses.

I’ve just visited their web site and looked at a few photo’s on there and the photo’s are OK overall. Have your photo taken on a good hair day with a smiley happy face and you can’t go far wrong. 😉
Besides you paid a lot of money for the right to carry that card and the official Gas Safety Register web site stands to confirm that fact, conclusively!:D

Somewhere on the Gas safe register it states that engineers can have their photos removed on request.
My details have as yet not appeared on the site!
