ParticipantI have a Hygena 6 ring gas hob, and two of the knobs that regulate the gas flow (gas taps?) no longer work. An engineer said that he needed the model number to order the correct ones (6 months ago), but the hob was in the house when I bought it 3 years ago, and I don’t have an instruction book or any information on it.
Does anyone have any ideas where I can get this information – or more to the point, where I can get the gas taps?
As you look at the hob, the taps are in a vertical row on the right-hand side (tap for top right burner at the top, and tap for bottom right burner at the bottom): there are 3 medium burners along the back, two large burners on the bottom (left and centre), and a small burner on the bottom right-hand side.
It’s the two burners by the gas taps that don’t work (one medium, and the small). The gas taps all look the same to me, and I don’t know if different size burners need different size taps, but the two burners that are out of action are the ones I used most!!
The engineer who looked at it, said that the taps had corroded shut, and was not able to get rid of the corrosion; therefore new taps would be needed (or a new hob – but that would involve a new work surface!) – so if I can get the hob fixed it would be wonderful.Any help would be gratefully appreciated
Thank you 😕

The model number will be on the underside of the hob, it may require the oven (if present) underneath being removed.

Dave,
Thanks for that – I’ve looked underneath the hob – it’s separate from the oven, thank goodness.
There’s a small sticker in the corner that looks like it’s had its top edge chopped off, but I can read Model no APL 1670, or it could be APL 1870: do either of these ring any bells as correct model numbers? If so, could you please tell me how to get the correct parts – I’m fed up with not being able to use the small burner! 😡
Thanks
hb

It’s the correct format (APL???) but neither of those numbers are correct models I’m afraid.

ModeratorIt’s most likely to be APL1810 or APL1820; check that the ‘7’ isn’t a bit faded

Hmm…….. wish I had a bendy neck so I could see easier!
APL 1890? It’s not a 2. as there’s no ‘tail’, but it doesn’t look staright enough to be a 1.

It will be APL1890 if you’re sure it’s not a 1 or a 2.
We would be able to supply these parts, but only to a CORGI registered professional. If you can supply us with the registration number of the CORGI agent who will be responsible for fitting these parts we will order them for you.
Where a job requires breaking into a gas system UKW will only provide spare parts to registered CORGI operatives for safety and legal reasons.
Please contact admin if you require further information on this.

Brilliant!! Thanks very much – I’ll get hold of the engineer who looked at it originally to get the information you need.
Can you give me any idea as to cost, please?

Or better still get the corgi engineer to order spares direct from us 😀
