Just wasted 6 months doing portofilo to become gas safe, paid out 2 grand to acs centre do 2 and half days there, then they check my portofilo and check the guy who been training me on the gas safe website and find that he not got enough qualifications to be doing all the jobs that we have been doing yes he gas safe done his ccn1 and commercial, but not got ckr1, as most of my portofilo was done around cookers now been told portofilo is worthless and cant do course and got start all over again. as i made mistake by not checking the guy had ckr1 as when asked if he done cookers he said yes, maybe thinking his commercial catering would cover him,now seems the acs centre wont be refunding me any money so 2 grand out of pocket for nothing, when i went they there never checked my portofilo or details of guy training me,just asked if i had one, said yes they said cool pay fees of 2 grand and you can be on course next week to which i did, where do i stand now no gas course no qualifications and 2grand gone

    gas training

I feel for you I really do ,The whole gas training thing is a farce in my opinion ,I am in the process of compiling my portfolio and the goalposts are constantly changing as to what is required ,one training centre gives you a different opinion to another .
It’s ridiculous and it’s only getting worse.
As for the training centre not refunding the fees ,I did my introduction to gas course at AGA Rangemaster and they took payment at the completion of the course and were the most consistent training centre I found ,the only draw back was that they are in Telford which is 4hrs from Ipswich on a good day ,so I stayed for the week .
I have their info if you req just pm me

    Re: gas training

in regards to the CPA1 there is No guidance or information given by ANY appliance manufacturer for the readings or taking of the measurements.here as the gas fire and boiler manufacturers do.

    Re: gas training

there are no adjustments for gas rate or gas pressure so with cookers it is straighforward. As long as you are getting around 21mbar to the appliance there is not much else you can do
