    Anyone doing work for GB DAR going with this RETRA thing? What do you think of it?

    We are not doing any work on this but we did get a letter from GBdar saying their computer had crashed and all payments due will be delayed.

    Yeah, I got that as well.

    I was more on about the rates as they seem awfully low for the work that they want doing.

    Whats more not only are the rates low for what is a multi brand contract (low 1st time fix rate )but they are also paying 1/2 when the appliance is written off,or cust refuses a repair ,How about this for a scenario -you call and diagnose you then source parts /Ber the appliance( all time and phone calls = money) ,machine written off your paid £16.00
    not alot bearing in mind the amount of time travelling to and from jobs makes up the bulk of your labour during a day
    I never have liked aborted call rate I think its a scam, and I know of others that feel the same way

    Yes Daf I kinda thought that way myself.

    I reckon it can’t pay at the rates and I agree that the 1/2 fee for a BER is a scam, even a reduced fee for a BER is ludicrous for anyone as it doesn’t cost any less to get an engineer to the call and, after all, that’s the risk of the manufacturer or insurer and not us. Last time I checked I was not a registered insurance company.

    You’re quit right, the admin costs alone of BER calls are more than it’s worth in this case particularly.

    Another pause for thought on this deal is this.

    you go to an appliance and have to order parts, the part is backorder, a week later GBDAR/RETRA write the appliance off because the customer is screaming. You then receive the part that you cannot return and you will never use again. Your stuck with it!

    I posed this question to GBDAR and was told that it would never happen but they would not commit to paying for the part in this situation.

    I have told them I will not be doing any of this work till this is sorted.

    There is a way round this, if the part is a ‘special’ or backordered, fax a report to GBdar stating this and ask for an authority number and a name to procedeed with the repair, they can’t get out of it then, if they refuse, close the job down and invoice at the normal rate.

    I know it’s extra admin/time etc, and why should you have to, but *untill* these wp’s change their tune, it’s one alternative.
