I have the above GE American Freezer. The water was freezing at the water outlet and so I couldn’t get either water or ice as the mechanism had frozen. When defrosted and restarted, it was ok for about 5 days. But now, (by forcing it when it was frozen), we have broken the mechanism that you put the glass against to get water or ice. Two questions: 1, any idea what part is required for the water mechanism? and 2. why is it freezing up? I just put a new PCB board in last year so I am disappointed the appliance is proving troublesome again. Everything else in the fridge and freezer is working as normal. Thanks

Is the freezer getting too cold? That could explain it freezing.

    Hi

Normally the ice flap solenoid has corroded due to dispensing ice into glasses of cola instead of cola first. I’ve just done one with the exact same defect.

There will be snow building up in the ice chute stoping the flap from closing fully.
