ParticipantHi all,
I have a GE side by side fridge / Freezer with 2 issues.
1. The water dispenser wont work. I have water flowing through the filter and to the coupling at the bottom of the door before it goes into the base of the door, but nothing at the dispenser.
Any ideas on how to clear it out or clean it??. The door itself appears to be a sealed unit and I can’t check the internal hose.2. The Ice maker keeps freezing up. ie. the motor that drives the Ice Dispenser freezes up and (obviously) won’t turn. I have to remove the motor, defrost it and then re-install it about once every 2 months.
I was contemplating surrounding the motor in some insulation material (poly foam or something similar) to stop moisture getting into the motor
Thanks for any feedback
Dave

Hi
How old is your fridge freezer ?
the auger motor that dispenses ice will need a new motor and a cover that I have in stock or available from the on line shop.
It sounds like the insulation in your door has failed and is causing the water pipe to freeze.this isnt replaceable so its a new door im afraid.

Thanks for the reply Bryan.
The unit is about 3 years old. I figured that the motor kept freezing up due to the temperaure in the Freezer. Won’t a new motor just freeze up to?
I have notices that the motor is located 1. below the Ice maker with a slotted cover (to keep it cold??) and 2. it is above the cold air recirculation fan and the cover is also slotted.
Maybe a combination of condensation and cold air blowing directly onto the motor. It was never going to be an overheating problem …lol.can you please post the link to your online shop.
As for the hose in the freezer door… well that remains a mystery and I’m not prepared to change the door.
Again. thanks for the adviceDave
