Not been to look yet but customer reports following:

Internal lights on but not getting cold and comp not humming.
Was flashing ‘0’ in both fridge and freezer temp displays, but after switching off and on now displays nothing.

Any ideas gratefully received.

QER have tested the main board but not found a fault. Can you pls suggest other possible areas for me to check?

Hi Bryan,

Update from QER. They’ve identified a variable output from a couple of pins on one connector and think this may be the fault. However, if it is, they say they cannot repair it. Any idea where I can get a reasonably priced replacement, as I notice that they cost a fortune from the likes of Connect? Thanks v much for your help so far.

Hi Bryan,

Sorry to bother you again, but given that this is a pretty expensive part, can you say on a scale of 1 to 10 how sure you are that this is the fault? Not that I’m going to hold you responsible if it doesn’t work. Also, when I removed the back cover I found a square, yellow capacitor with a ring connector not attached to anything. Am I right in assuming that this goes to earth and was held in place by one of the cover screws I removed? Thanks v much for your help.

Every one that I’ve been to and thats quite a lot with the same fault I’ve changed the pcb and haven’t gone back. Im not in from of yours so i would be 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.
The capacitor is screwed between the pcb cover and body using one of the screw holes.It is connected either to the board or wiring dependent on the model. there is also a earth that needs to be fitted the same way.

Hi Bryan,

On fitting new PCB, comp cooling fan and evap fan both started working but comp struggled to start.

Opened fridge door and fiddled with temp settings and then comp kicked in.

Opened fridge door again after a few mins and both fans and comp stopped and temp displays reverted to flashing zero. Tried messing with temps, switching on and off etc but could not get it to come back to life. Seems it had reverted to original fault as sometimes there was no display at all.

Brain kicked in after blind panic (over purchasing about £200 worth of board) had died down, and I put a new starting cap on, fired it up and worked fine. Stayed with it for about an hour (job some way from base and didn’t fancy having to go back a third time) during which time I monitored temp reduction, switched on and off and opened and closed fridge door to make sure it wasn’t going to throw a wobbly again. Seems fine so suspect I’ve repaired it successfully.
