General Observations

New to this forum but note that most of you guys, and maybe some gals, are primarily from the service industry.
I operate mail order selling spares parts only but have been known to get the tool bag out from time to time.
Is it me or is there a general down turn in sales at the moment. I have noted a definte slump in sales over the last 6 weeks or so and was wondering if this is the same for all retail outlet owners who contribute here.
After a recent visit from one of my sales rep he suggested that it was generally quiet anyway. Although he was more concerned with his competitors boxes laying around my warehouse. I’m not going to name names here but both these suppliers have been mentioned in these forums for both good and bad reasons.
During our chat he let slip that someone from his employ was a member on this forum and was monitoring what was being said about them and associated parties. I know this because he said things that could only have been known had he read it on these forums.
Is this really a good idea to have such snooping in such sensitive and competive area as ‘das’ or are some members bating these reps with information so that they can report back to there bosses in a sort of teasing manner.

Kuango, welcome to the site first of all 😀

Any member of any company that is related to the white goods repair/sales/spares industries are more than welcome to sign up and will be given access to the trade areas should they ask.

I can confirm that most of the spares wholesalers have some representaion within the forums, some choose to post, others do not.

I don’t quite know what you refer to with “das” though ?

I can’t see a problem with suppliers reading comments made about them on here, be they critical or complimentary. For example, there has been quite a bit of negative talk about Washvac of late but if members of their management read this they will perhaps address the problems, before their sales plummet.

It’s the summer, it’s always quietish.

It will kick-off again in August.

Thanks for the feed back.
Been busy of late. Just got the keys for my other lockup from the council.
Took them 9 months to administer the change over. Must be a record.

I refer to ‘das’ as domestic appliance servicing’.
Hope to set up a trade counter for this purpose. Need another revenue stream.
Appreciate this place is for everyone.

IMO all reps will say either its “generally quiet” or “its Busy all round” whatever to agree with you and how you are doing. No rep is going to call in and say “well everyone else is doing real well, its just you thats failing”

All our reps ever say is “Sell this one it’s the dogs doodies”
And then say ” But we haven’t any in till next month” 🙄
