I am in a flat with a (Whirlpool?) Generation 2000+ integrated cooker which looks fairly knackered, as you can see in the photo.

I suspect the thermostat is blown, the oven doesn’t seem to stop heating at the temperature you set – the heating element at the back gets as hot as the sun and incinerates your food (and ruined a very nice baking dish too).

Secondly the hobs seem to do the same, heat up to infinity if you dare use the high setting, then don’t cool back down until you turn them off completely.

This is not only inconvenient but I suspect dangerous as well. Can anyone advise what it might take to repair? Any help greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

We’d need the model number of both to find the parts.

However, if that’s happening on all the hob zones it’d need all four energy regulators and those will likely cost more than a replacement hob.

The oven stat should be okay but, that machine has to be at least 12-15 years old so it’s not worth spending a lot of money on.

    Thanks K.

I’d need to locate the model numbers but don’t have the manual… I’ll see if the landlord has the details (unlikely). Otherwise where would they be on the unit?

As it’s built into the counter top, how easy / difficult and costly would it be to replace the lot with a new unit?

    Appreciate the quick reply 😀

Hob, the model is on the underside usually.

Oven, around the oven door opening.

Both should be replaceable pretty easily, standard looking sizes. Costs of parts I can give you but not replacements.
