Until a couple of weeks ago I could view genuine part numbers on my Connect account – suddenly they disappeared. I was informed that I may be using them just to get the numbers and then order elsewhere (Fair comment) I asked why they thought I would want to buy elsewhere? Were they too expensive maybe? Did they need to look at there prices?

I was told that Connect are VERY competitive (Then why would I shop elsewhere?) I was then told that only account holders spending more would get the genuine part numbers!!!

SO let me get this right…..the idea of taking the gen numbers from me is…To encourage me to spend more with Connect? Oh dear oh dear. I’m afraid it has had the opposite effect and although I have asked to talk to the person that came up with this brilliant piece of sales strategy, I can only assume that they have taken a three week holiday because guess what? No response :rolls:

Anyone else had a similar experience recently?

    Re: Genuine part numbers CONNECT

We have for a number of years not been able to view genuine part numbers from connect they have always been 503-504 type numbers, however recently these were replaced with odd numbers like 10005C
Of course the later ties up with nothing anywhere else and having spoken to another connect customer it appears these numbers can be applied account by account. Helpful ? No ! I have spoken to them regarding this and now we are getting the 5 prefix codes again. Our rep didn’t seem to know anything about this but it seems a practice designed in their own interests but we all need to be vigilant as regards pricing of spares

If qualtex can supply parts for a certain price then why can’t connect, my orders from them have dropped dramatically over the last year but no one has contacted me to ask why, tells it’s own story

    Re: Genuine part numbers CONNECT

had a similar thread running already here but, I have never seen manufacturers part numbers since the introduction of Connections/mediator from Connect and a few years age I was spending a lot with them so not sure its the case that spend dictates this. Maybe Repairtech (whatever) agents got visible part numbers?

I stopped using them about five years ago for this reason. The strange thing is that you guys seem to have just been barred from the genuine part numbers now.

A few years ago I used Qualtex, Masterpart and Connect in about the same proportions. Now with Connect hiding there part numbers and Masterpart having nothing in stock its virtually all Qualtex for me. 🙁

    Re: Genuine part numbers CONNECT

That’s interesting indeed. I don’t spend a fortune on spares and to be honest most of my business goes to Qualtex or Maddocks now, I guess the problem is that people get used to using a supplier and we get a bit lazy. What fascinates me is that someone would consider it a good idea to be obstructive in order to generate higher sales volumes! I feel complacency may just bight them on the rear end…..Hopefuly
