ParticipantHow can I get rid of scrap w/m d/w ref ete
I used to sell new appliances mainly to my older customers and take their old scrap appliances to the tidy tip for them
now beds council say you need to get a pemit to leave fridges
1 per household per year.
Or to use vans or trailers at the tidy tip
so bye bye 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of my trade
Is their any other way, considerind the trade price for a w/m seems to be more than the price in large chains, to dipose of these.
( my tiny gargen is nearly full and the wife is going to kill me !!) ❓April 8, 2004 at 2:30 pm #110669kwatt
KeymasterDASA may have an answer there with a new scheme that they have running if you’re a member.
Other than that, there’s little hope I’m afraid and a growing problem that has been discussed here before.

When you fit a new pump or drum backplate to a machine, you don’t take the old one away do you?

Have you seen the price of scrap metal lately? it has skyrocketed and scrapyards are now welcoming us back again and even offerring money. I dont think they have cottonned on to the fact that there isnt much “metal” in washing machines nowdays. But fridges? leave em at the customers.

ParticipantSome years back, I chased a local scrap lad round Yeadon, had a word, and now he calls at 7am (!) every Monday morning. Everything to go is in an agreed place and it all disappears!

Much the same as P45, my local cardboard & newspaper recycling collector in my area calls once a fortnight & takes all scrap metal, plastic, glass, packing materials, cardboard boxes etc, he makes a living (somehow) by sorting it out & selling to recycling companies

I’m the same, do it to regular delivery drivers, postmen, bin men etc. as well, Helps to oil the wheels for the next year, usually get that little bit of extra help & assistance from them, keeps them on our side, gets rid of the jobsworth attitude.

anyone who removes waste from your premises has to be licensed.
If you do not receive a waste transfer docket from the collector, you are breaking the law.
There are tough penalties for this and you would be well advised to call your local enviroment agency for a free leaflet on disposal of trade waste.

Thanks to you all
penguin 45’s idea looked best to me as i only sell a few.
Rang the scrap yard round the corner and he will pay me £3 for w/m
and £5 for t/d and cookers.
Saves a 15 mile round trip and he pays me 😆 😆 😆 -
