Can anyone give a reason EXACTLY how slivers of glass get passed the three filters and into the pumps on dishwashers?
Have been in the game for 17 years and still have no idea how pieces can get in to jam impeller.

My opinion is they dont actually. It is when the customer finally cleans the filter that items drop down inside to cause a problem. If the filter is a good fit and not damaged bone, glass etc, shouldn’t get past. The customer also always denies that they have ever had a glass breakage in the dishwaher.

Slivers of glass float edge on through the gap into both pumps. I had a typical example last week in Newbury where the guy washed a load of cheap wine glasses after a party. Several of them broke either while loading or unloading? He fished out the broken bits, but not all of them.

Only when they lift the filters out does clear glass then fall unseen into the base.

I easily sorted the one stuck in the drain pump but the even larger sliver in the circulation pump was more of a challenge. (I managed to break it up, take the spray arms out then pump the bits back into the filter – result!!! 🙂 )
