    I spend a fair bit of time googling my business.

    And noticed the results page had changed within a 24hr period.

    I found this which explains why;

    Its strange the Yellow pages rep was at mine Thursday saying about how Yellow pages had partnered with Google. He didn’t mention any changes afoot though.

    What do you think to the new results page set-up?

    Google revises its search algorithms on a fairly regular basis with usually one or two major updates a year. Nothing new in that TBH.

    What is a concern is that people selling an internet service aren’t aware of how stuff works. They haven’t partnered with Google, they’ve likely paid a shedload of cash to Google for Adword positioning and that’s about the size of it I imagine.

    I find that most people I have done work for say the just put in “washing machine repairs in west Dorset” and get me on local hosts?? that I have registered with so I’m not sure it will hurt me in any way.

    They’ve been revising it a bit over the last month. The big change seems to be that they’re now ranking by reviews, so if you don’t have any reviews on Google, get a regular customer to write one.

    E.g. searching for Washing machine repairs in Oxfordshire and we’re now top of the list, wheras before they were all arranged closest to the centre.

    However, searching for a city itself now just brings up one, which is the nearest one 😕

    Doubt it has anything to do with Yellow Pages, we only have a free ad with them.

    Or perhaps the signature on here with your URL embedded has helped somewhat. 😉

    Reviews are just content. On the interweb, content is king but, it has to be done correctly.
