Just seen advert for Gorenje’s latest washer, 2000rpm spin! “Motorised detergent draw” & fashionable centre mounted lcd screen. Good looker too. Lets hope the bearings are a bit more up to it than their previous 1600 spinner. Lets hope the guys at BSH appliance care are too.

Yeah, I saw that recently on a flyer from DAD.
Ludicrous if you ask me, but there we have it, the first washer to break the sound barrier 😀

Not the first, ASKO had a machine that spun at 2200rpm (IIRC) circa 1990 at Domotechnica although it was never made available commercially.

Yeah, but that doesnt count, i am sure Skoda had a 220mph supercar at some motor show but it wasnt reflected in a road car. and who remembers the BEKO blobby direct drive washing machine at shows a few years back?
LOL, but it was a real ASKO Mark and it did work although I’ve no idea if it was sold outside the UK.
Skoda did hill climbers well didn’t they? 😉

Going way off topic here, but Skodas were a great choice for modified saloon car racing in the 70’s and 80’s as their rear engine design and aerdynamic shape (well compared to the only alternative of a rear engined car, the Beetle, they were) made them suitable bodywork for what was basicly an F1 car. A glassfibre shell would just be fitted over a year old Lotus or something. It used to be quite an amusing sight all these skoda’s blowing away BMW’s etc.
