The time has come for a new kitchen, so many decisions! So some advice would be very much appreciated. We made do for 6 years with the worst cooker in the world (well it was v old!).

The 2 of us love to cook, but it’s just us most of the time so I was going for a mini cooker ( I have a Tefal Avanti which is fantastic) with a large built in oven for the big roast dinners and baking sessions.

Hate hot air blowing at me whilst cooking!
It has to go under worktop
    Energy efficient
    Easy to clean
    Non tip shelves
Last forever – OK until I die then!

I was looking at Gorenje BO8776AX (£530) from my local independent retailer thinks they are good, but also thought about Hotpoint Openspace but haven’t seen one & can’t find any reviews.

For the hob a long thin linear induction would really suit my little kitchen, not many around that I can find so again any thoughts would be really appreciated. Would a ceramic be much different compared to induction – as I believe induction can go wrong & be very expensive to repair.

I need a tall larder fridge 1.80, again at least A rated & quiet, with 2 veg drawers on runners, looking at John Lewis, AEG or Samsung?

Finally the ceiling is low 2.10m and as there isn’t an exterior window (leads onto conservatory) I’d like an extractor to put in the ceiling above the hob 90. I can easily duct out as the is only the loft above. I don’t have room for a canopy as my husband is 1.93 tall!

Sorry I seem to have written an essay! Thanks for reading and any thoughts will be gratefully received.

Re: Gorenje Hotpoint Ovens I’m confused!

    Hi

I like the Gorenje products, we have been a stockist for about ten years now and I can say that they are just as reliable as anything else out there.

The BO8776AX is a full multi function oven, enough cooking options for even the most serious of cooks. The five year parts and labour guarantee makes it a good proposition.

As for the Hotpoint openspace, I have not been asked about it here in the shop at all. So I guess there isn`t many out there in use which is probably why there are no reviews.

Have a look at the Gorenje ECT930AC 4 plate ceramic hob top which again has the same 5 year warranty, also the Neff T43P90 ( I am a Neff fan 😉 ) Ceramic and induction hobs all have pcb`s in them which can fail, glad to say not very often though. Induction manufacturers claim they use 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} less electricity compared to a ceramic hob, which is good saving in anyones book. If you decide on induction you will need to have iron bottom saucepans. Installation requirements are tighter on induction due to the cooling fans in them.

I am assuming the fridge is the AEG S72390KA6, much much better than any Samsung. It`s satinless steel outer and full length handle is typically AEG, but what I like about it is the in side is uncluttered allowing maximum storage in the space provided.

Extraction unit in a kitchen of that height is causing me a headache. I looked at Xpelair ceiling mounted fans who are one of main suppliers in the UK, their minimum height installation for kitchen units is 2.3 metres. If they are a no no then you could look at a canopy hood set into the ceiling instead of in the base of a wall unit, as you say hubby is quite tall so he would be able to reach the controls. The Neff D5855 73cm wide unit with a 400 cubic metre per hour extraction rate on maximum would be the better choice if you go for a linear 90cm hob. A good read here on cooker hoods should help.

    Essay returned 😀

    HTH 🙂

Re: Gorenje Hotpoint Ovens I’m confused!

    BIG THANKS

A great help, have read link on extraction and would hope to find a powerful 90 wide one to intergrate into the ceiling, so could have a trickle flow to keep air circulating in the room too.

The Neff hob looks lovely – if I can afford it. Like the magnetic knob.

I thought the AEG was better too.

I don`t know of a 90cm canopy hood. The widest I can find is this DeDietrich which is 76cm wide. Even the specialist hood companies like Elica and Blanco don`t produce one.
