ParticipantSorry for the lack of model number but I’m looking for some general advice/.
I am about to inherit my Gran’s washer dryer. It a old Bosch, bought new in 1987. It is VERY quiet indeed (quieter than my own WFL 2260) and thought it would be a good project as it was hardly used until two years ago.
Two years ago, my Gran died and the house was rented out, the machine was used by the new tenants. Somehow they have seen it fit to saw the door off its hinges and tore the door seal.
So, how easy is it to get parts for a Bosch of this age. It will need a door, door seal possibly an interlock. Also, it has a stainless steel outer drum; how easy is it to change the bearings.
What do you reckon? It would be a shame to bin such a good quality appliance.

Tough as old boots, the old Bosch machines. Everything is still available through Bosch – at a price. Certain components may be available as compatible spares, which can save you a fair sum.
The drum bearings are housed in a cast iron cross-piece on the back of the drum. Eight bolts and it will fall off.
However, for specific info, the model number is crucial.

It’s a V695 model. ONly had about 5 years hard work, used once a week othewise.
Is it worth recommissioning in your opinion??

Found a door seal and the bearings – think I need the eNr number as well for the rest of it.

Right, it has arrived! It is a v696.
Was very impressed when moving it even though it was extreamly heavy but seemed to be very well built compared to other washers: stainless drum, cast iron weight, and SO quiet when spinning. However, door seal is stained and drum has some movement in it, so suspect bearings need changing soon. However it looks like the rear of the drum “unclips” so hopefully, replacement shouldn’t be too bad. What are your opinion of these fairly pre-historic olf Boschees??
However, some considerate t**t who was renting Gran’s house has snapped the door off, so I need a new hinge. Are they still available via here? Number on the hinge: 8000360 AB 6
Also, are the drying mechanisms on these any good. Both elements glow up when the “T2” setting is on.
Also, is there any chance of getting a handbook for it?
Thanks again!
Rob

Door seal – 18BS03
Bearing set – 05SS02
Hinge – 107638An eMail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get things moving for you.
The dryer section is always rubbish on these, BTW. No fan motor, so drying by convection only. Takes HOURS……..

Also, can you price up a pump as mine is leaking slightly!
Thanks!

I personally would not advise purchasing a 51-BS-02 pump for your machine. Unlike the more resilient standard Siemens made pump, they tend to go up in smoke if the impellor gets jammed 😯
Your existing pump will only require a new shaft seal part number 051840 (available via spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk) and a little 3 in 1 oil on each end of the shaft! 😉

next stage of the saga: the pump! I have to be honest, I would like to replace the pump because, if the pic below works, it has been leaking for some time and also one of the hinges that attach the plastic section to the pump (secured by the metal retaining clip) is broken.
Would a replacement pump simply bolt on, or are the original pumps still available for less than the price of a world cruise?
Thanks again! (pretty pic attached – hopefully!)

There’s nowt much wrong with that pump the advice I gave earlier wouldn’t sort my friend!
Lashings of WD40 will clean it up and refresh the bearings 😉

thanks Martin but the plastic moulding section that forms a hinge at the rear of the pump is broken, so is that section replaceable or am I looking at an alternative pump?

No parts Rob, just the seal available. Martin is refering to to the (infamous) GRE pattern pump, which used to blow up if you smiled at it. The pump I quoted above is rather better quality and is good value at £20.
