ParticipantHey. I am trying to located spare parts for a hotpoint WD440. Inside the drum there are three plastic “things”… I don’t know how to describe them so cant really find them online!! One has snapped off and we cannot use the washer without it, as clothes fall through the holes left and have ripped clothes!
Here’s a photo to explain (probably easier!)

ParticipantIt looks like v2 of the lifter… but the model number WD440 is not listed there. It’s not really listed on v3 of the lister either, as mine says WD440… not WD440G or P.

version 3 has marks on the end which look like “pips”??
version 2 has clips which looks like the one I have.

I have fitted V2 or V3 lifters without any problems. yours will be V2 though.
Worth mentioning that 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time it is user misuse that causes the lifters to come adrift.
You should not wash trainers or other footwear in the machine and you should carefully check all pockets for coins etc before loading into the appliance.
Might be worth changing all three as any that are still in place may be damaged.

I think we may overload with too many towels… will have to make sure we lighten the load from now. The lifter has just sheared off – the plastic clips look like they’ve been snapped.
Thanks very much for all the help. I’ve ordered the V2 lifters now.
Cheers 🙂July 20, 2009 at 4:03 pm #292676iadom

Its not too many towels, definitely coins or trainers. If you don’t believe me then remove the mains plug, take the lower back panel off and remove the black rubber sump hose from under the drum. You will find the money in there. 😉
