We have recently moved into a house with an Ariston black built-in single electric oven. I do not know the model number as it is not on the door and the previous home owners have taken the manual with them!

Recently the oven has stopped working, although the ‘on’ light comes on and so does the fan. I cannot work out what is wrong as the grill function works fine,so the heating element is not the issue. I thought it may have been the electric clock, but if it is, I cannot work out why.

Any help is gratefully recieved, as now christmas is over we have to start eating proper meals again instead of nuts, crisps, cheese and biscuits!

Model number would be a big help, look around and under the door, however most cookers have a separate element for the oven , failure of which is a very common cause of this fault.
It will be almost impossible to identify which part you need without a model number. You could try posting a couple of pics to see if someone has a clue. Has the cooker got any name other than Ariston on the front?
If you can get to the back of the cooker there may be a number there.
Or get in touch with the previous owners, if possible.

EDIT. I can see one model of Ariston oven that is listed as Black/Single.
Model number is FM87FBK. I can confirm that it does have a separate oven element.

thanks for the quick response. I’ll try and find a picture of that model and see if it matches.

It also has a lower element as well as the upper, grill element, three elements in total. In most cases if you actually look at the element you may be able to see signs of surface damage, you should be able to access the element from inside without toucing any electrical components by removing the inner rear liner. Power off first. :zap:
