    Hi,

i have read loads of problems with fridges being warm in fridge freezers and i too have that problem.

There is loads of talk about testing parts/components with a multimeter such as thermister, defrost heater, etc etc but nowhere can i find precise instructions on where to do it and how. All i can find at present is posts saying test with a multimeter..but what do we look for, what do we touch the probes on, would is a correct reading etc etc.

Can some one experianced please describe the process to check these parts and possible make a “sticky” that would be used by many users.

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea and would benift please bump this thread!!!

    cheers

Re: GUIDE TO TESTING FRIDGE FREEZER COMPONENTS

The problem is that they can be different depending on the unit so there’s no “one size fits all” with this.

That said, a lot of it is a simple continuity check and, if you can’t do that then my opinion is that you really need to get someone who does know what they’re doing. We don’t want anyone doing something stupid and blowing themselves up or their appliance.

That’s why, in the stickies, there’s a notice that says we can’t give you step-by-step instructions if you read it. 😉

Plus, most often, we don’t get instructions and we extremely rarely get step-by-step instructions so, like everyone else, we have to work it out for ourselves using the knowledge that we have of appliances in general.

Most times we’re doing well if we get a parts diagram and a parts list, a wiring diagram is a bonus!

    K.
