ParticipantFisher & Paykel GW609AU problem.
Power on and all lights lit up normally however when start button pressed just a beep and then no start.
Put into diagnostic mode and got the following:

Did the out of balance switch test, drain pump test and both water valve tests whilst in diagnostic mode and all worked ok.
Behaviour suggested lid switch maybe open circuit…checked this and found to be faulty. Replaced switch and machine now appears to function ok.
Also have noticed 2 other things:
1) Drain hose at back of machine has been bent right over and kinked/crushed…this does not seem to restrict the flow as much as I thought it would, but I will replace this as soon as I can get spare.
2) Pump is very squealy when operating, I pulled it out but does not appear to be tight, but will also replace this.
Anyway, as stated machine seems to work ok, although I put it into dianostic mode after replacing switch and got the following…does this indicate a fault?May 17, 2008 at 7:00 am #252330kiwireeferman

The spin light flash indicates you have entered the data download mode.
You don’t need to press the start pause button on your machine.
The pump squeal is just dry bearings, if there is no sign of a water leak just apply oil to the upper and lower bushes.
You will most likely find the pump will last a long time.
I think the pump manufacturer must be getting a little mean on bearing lubrication.May 17, 2008 at 10:06 pm #252331tivoenator

OK,
Thanks for the info.
Will any old mineral oil do, or is there something special you should use?
Also what is involved in replacing the drain hose…I have a copy of the parts manual (is the hose part# 425152?) but its not clear how to replace it.

I got a price from a local parts supplier in Adelaide today for the drain hose…$80!
This seems like a lot for a length of plastic hose…is it made of carbon fibre?
Are there any non-genuine options or am I stuck with replacing it with the genuine article?
It is kinked right at the point where it exists the machine…I’m assuming someone has pushed the machine back hard against a wall and squashed it.

Drain Hose comes with wiring loom attached hence the expense
This is not a 5 Minute Job to replace
Best bet is to get a drain hose extension Part # 425627P About $30
You can cut drain hose at kink & fit extension piece
But if is it very close to entry point of machine you will have to modify
at this postion to sit correctly
Just a badly designed system for such a piddly problemMay 19, 2008 at 7:34 am #252334tivoenator

OK,
Thanks again for the info.
I’ll see if I can do as you suggest, but it may be too close to entry point.
