ParticipantHi guys,
I’ve just bought a 2nd hand GW612 6.5kg Excellence, and I laid it down on it’s side in my stationwagon to bring it home. I believe that it’s got a problem resulting from that, but don’t know for sure.
It’s error code is 00111000 (which I believe is ’56’??)
It’ll fill with water but won’t wash/agitate. If I advance to Rinse cycle it’ll pump the water out but again not spin to expel the water.
All advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Overloading – bowl not floating off splines.
Syphoning – drain hose too far down drain pipe. Water runs in, water runs out.It is possible that the Rotor Position Sensor is faulty, although this would normally throw up a different code.

Thanks for the replies!
Water’s not flowing out again too soon – it fills and then stays that way – but the bowl doesn’t seem to be “floating off spline”… didn’t realise it was supposed to, but it did seem to be that there was some room for movement there which I didn’t understand. However, it seems to behave the same way no matter what the load (even when empty), so I don’t believe it’s overloaded.
The pressure tube appears to be connected (there is only one, isn’t there?).
The lid never seems to lock. Could that be connected/causing the problem? Is there some point I can advance the program to which should always cause the lid to lock, and therefore provide a simple test for me of whether or not it’s working?
Thanks again for all your help!
P.S. I also read in another post about the “air bell” and so am curious now what that is and what it does…

Lid does not lock per se. The lid has a magnet moulded into it. When shut it operates a switch in the top casing of the machine. Opening the lid breaks the circuit and stops the appliance.
The “air bell” or pressure chamber is at the bottom of the tub at the point where the hose joins (there is only one). If the chamber is flooded, you get false readings on the level switch and overfilling.
The inner drum should be free to rise and fall by about an inch. With the machine empty, see if you can lift the drum – there shouldn’t be a lot of resistance.

Is The Lid Lock Light flashing??
Note on Spline
When washer fills with water the bowl LOCKS onto Spline
When Washer pumps out the bowl then lifts to up off the spline to allow free rotation on Spin
When bowl is empty bowl should move vertical freely
Position of bowl is determined by water levelFault code 56 Reads
While carrying out bowl check ,the machine has not been able to determine a valid bowl status so flags this display codeCause of faults
Primary /Secondary As Suggested by Penguin
Tertiary / Rotor Postion Sensor (RPS)
Lastly / Can be Motor Controller (PCB) -
