ParticipantHi.
My GW709 has developed a nasty habit of shutting down, just after reaching full speed during a fast spin cycle. The machine will run up to full speed, then shut down until the bowl stops rotating, then re-commence spinning again – only to repeat the cycle ad nauseam. A new controller did nothing, as did the removal, cleaning & reinstallation of the out of balance switch. The problem occurs, even without anything in the bowl. If medium spin speed is selected, then no problems.August 13, 2007 at 7:20 am #224158bigsmokepiker

Have come Across this problem A Few times
Does the washer rumble to a stop ?
if So i would Say it Is a Problem with the Suspension
Suspension Gets very Tight not allowing washer to get up to full Speed
You can try Greasing but in the end the only resolution maybe to Replace supensionAugust 14, 2007 at 10:07 am #224159bcw61

I have applied some lubricant to all the suspensions units and the washer seems to be spinning OK. Also noted that it seems to spin quieter as well. I can’t see how this has possibly fixed the problem, as the bowl didn’t seem to be out of balance at all. However, if it works, then all’s well.

Just an update. The problem still remains. One thing that has been noticed – when the problem occurs, a bucket load of static comes through the TV set – the girlfriend informs when the problem is occuring, as she is watching the TV. Back to the drawing board I feel. As I’m typing this, the machine is doing its ‘run up and shut down – and run up again’ routine. 🙁

A further update. The machine is still failing to spin at full speed correctly – the first time round, although it will eventually spin at full speed – after several attempts. All suspension points have been lubricated, hot & cold valves replaced (they seem to be stuffed anyway), the RPS sensor replaced, the OOB switch has been checked & lubricated, all wiring inspected & another motor controller board fitted – without success. One thing noted, when I removed the inner bowl, the outer plastic housing (that the inner bowl rotates within) has severe scoring from the inner bowl perforations – some have almost ‘scored’ though the entire outer bowl housing. The bearings appear to be OK. Just wondering if an ‘out of balance’ inner bowl is causing my spinning woes & how this might be the cause?
