So i dont offer to waver the £30 call out and have the machine for spares instead, tell the customer about 5 yr’s parts warranty, they most likely get a 3 week time slot, get stung on the price??
Sod that!!!
Waver the £30 and have their machine for parts it will be.
😛

snap. same price here too…
word of warning.
prior to ordering i checked with connect cos it was out of stock, and they said it would be back in stock fri last week.
my back order status says w/e 02-04-2010
so the question is:
A: are hotpoint hoarding them for their own engineers?
(even though i thought connect held all of hotpoints uk stock for hotpoint tho)and
B: if not hoarding them, would they they able to get the drum ass any quicker than me ?

Only one of these I’ve done was a Creda WF100FW or something like that. Nov.09.
Got drum from Hotpoint.co.uk direct by quick phone call. Delivered by courier direct to customer next day. £64 I paid trade price with my word taken on that, included delivery and VAT.

outer tub for one of those is £62 from connect… so im guessing the wf full ass. direct from h/p will be about the same as on connect.
incidentally, my back order has now increased AGAIN to w/e 9/04….
customer will NOT be happy. im hoping it wont start to jam and completely stuff the motor/pcb before it arrives. if it does then i think h/p may well be being asked to give us a new motor…

You’d need to pay me a tenner first in case I have to listen to music for half an hour first :rolls: , not unlikely at this end of the week.
But I’m sure they’ll do the same for you if you talk nice to them. (“Please have your credit card details ready.”)

Mike. You don’t have to answer, but I was interested in how much you charge your customer for the whole job? When they could have Hotpoint do it for £104.99

I’m not sure the Creda brand has a 5 years parts warranty, or has it?
The actual retail cost of the sealed drum from Indesit is £90 + £5.99 postage (all in) so £64 (delivered) trade isn’t a bad mark-up. But I too am curious at what possibly practicality is it that anyone would want such a major repair done in the first place? It really doesn’t make any financial sense, I too wonder what the final total would be 😕
However if it were covered by a 5 year warranty then £104.99 to sort it may just be worth considering. Surely no-one ‘in the trade’ wouldn’t advise their customer as to the possibility that their appliance may carry a 5 years parts warranty, or would they?

£104.97 is the charge for all brands under five years old now. 😉

Customer not at all pleased with Hotpoint “hard sell” attitude on the phone so called me back and I sold her a new washer and took it round same day.
Then got £20 beer money for the old one.
Happy days 😀
