Hi all. From my search of the forum for Haier dishwashers I see they’re not too highly regarded… but I’ll give this a try anyway. My girlfriend has a slimline one of these which apparently worked fine (yes, most odd) however the door catch has broken, so you can’t open the door; the handle just moves freely without engaging anything.

Looking at it, I can’t see any way to get at the catch mechanism without opening the door first… does anyone have a cunning plan to get around this? I’m trying to avoid a Catch 22 pun there.

Hopefully it is empty of water, although whether it is empty of crockery is a bit of a mystery. If the door catch is unfixable presumably a lengthy steel bar should prise the thing open & answer that question before I head to the tip with it.

    Thanks

Lucky for you, this is the freestanding version. Drag it out, remove lid and you’ll be able to release the loop which the door closes onto from the top, which will allow you to open the door.

spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to get you a new latch assembly, but be prepared for a delay.

And yes, we pros do hate them…….

Power off before doing any work on the machine.
