ParticipantA customer rang me yesterday to say his kids had been messing around loading their Siemens dishwasher and somehow have jammed the door so it no longer shuts?
I get there to find the machine stacked to the gunwales with crocks and cutlery to a point of serious overloading! And apparently his son had trouble shutting the door and found a calving knife was loose and jamming it? He continued to force it shut when the latch gave way! 🙁
A quick inspection by me and I realised he’d simply tripped the door latch mechanism and a quick flick with a small screwdriver released it back as per normal in seconds. 😀
My customer then (quite naturally I suppose?) gave a sigh and commented that for 30 seconds work he had to pay £50 for my call. 😥
He also asked if I knew a good place to buy a new fridge because the same errant son had tried defrosting it that weekend with a knife (possibly the same knife that stuffed the door latch?) and had holed the evaporator! I advised him of a good local independent fridge supplier at that point.
My customer, wishing to get full value for his 50 quid then asked if I knew anything about “toilet handles”. 😕 That the toilet upstairs wasn’t working and he needed advice as to who to contact? I suggested I take a quick look at is as I wasn’t sure what the hell he was on about?
Needless to say it turned out to be the toilet cistern had been force flushed big time by some hand-fisted idiot and was broken and water overflowing through the overflow pipe. (been running for days probably :rolls: )
The same son that cause all three incidents. The cost? Well £50 to me. £200 for a new fridge and about another £100 to get the bog fixed I expect.
Kids eh? What joy then bring! 😀

I’m sure you’re right there, in fact no doubt an essential part and one of the major attractions that UK Whitegoods site provides many regulars into returning again and again.
