    Hi all
I have just got a new Lg Steam washing machine model WM1437PFD .
But I’m not sure if I have problem with it !!
In the owners manual it said at the start of the program it comes up ‘detecting’on the display, this is where it checks the weight of the load I assume, but after my machine has finished detecting it always flash’s up 8kg even if it is empty, but in the manual it shows a picture with 7kg on it!
I have e-mailed Lg and they said it was a fault, So after 5 weeks I managed to get a replacement from Currys (LOTS of hassle) now I have the new one, guess what it dose the same thing!!!!!
I just wanted to know if any had this type of machine and what it done after the detecting stage?

    Hi

We had a look at one of these a couple of months ago but only for about an hour, so my knowledge is very limited. The machine does have an 8kg capacity. The load is calculated by a weight sensor and as you say is done at the start of the cycle. However IIRC this can be thrown out if the load is loaded unbalanced or there is not enough clothing put in at the start.

Is it like the new Miele’s, and need an empty wash first before use to set up the sensor’s etc?

This might not be of any use, but i know with the Miele machines that have load sensors, is that the weight sensor gets thrown out of balance due to a load already in the machine before its switched on, also Miele weight sensors need to be callibrated before use, and if they become corrupted they need to be re-callibrated. I persume this will be the same with all machines with weight sensors, try your manual.

Re: Has any one got a LG steam washing machine

    I’ve emailed LG again and this time they come back and asked me what programs it happens on, which was;
when you start the machine on:
    Baby Care
    Cotton
    Synthetic
It comes up ‘DETECTING’ on the display, the drum turns for about 5 seconds then in the top left hand corner of the display it flashes up 8KG.

when you start the machine on:
    Delicate
    Hand wash/Wool
    Duvet
    Quick 30
It comes up ‘WASHING’ on the display.

    They replyed with:
This has been passed on to 2nd level technical support and when we get a reply from them we will be back in touch.

So it looks like LG don’t know how there machines work!!!!! 😆 😆 😆 😆

Re: Has any one got a LG steam washing machine

    Hi
I just got a reply from LG after 8 days of them thinking about it!! :

    Further to your query,

This matter was passed to the factory and they have clarified the following; To clarify what “detecting” means. The machine relys on fuzzy logic to assess what type of load is in the machine. This means it measures the water absorbency of the load, then adjusts water levels and wash time depending on the load. This also means that you may see the time remaining jump from 1hr25 to 55mins,for example. This is normal. The wash times are infinitely variable. When the machine says it is “detecting”, it is sensing the load type and not the quantity. The 8kg you see is just the machine wash capacity.

So at the end of the day, after being told by 3 different people at LG by phone and email there is a problem with the machine , IN FACT there is NO problem with my machine :rolls: :rolls: :rolls: 😕 🙁 😡 🙂
