Have I broken my dishwasher door?

I wanted to see inside my dishwasher whilst it was on to see if I could identify a leak…
I have seen engineers do this by putting something in the door latch when open and turning the machine on. I did this and it worked but I am now unable to shut the door, it closes but is not engaged and just pulls open again.
Is this something that can easily be repaired or requires an engineer?
Am I now looking to buy a replacement dishwasher 😕

A make and model would help… 😉

But normally if you look at where the catch snaps in there’s a latch, it’ll need flicked over to the open position, it’ll be in the closed one and that’ll be why you can’t shut the door.

But doing that, running the DW when the door’s open, not a good idea at all.

You won’t find a leak that way anyhow as there will be water spraying about…
You’ll just end up getting wet.

Thanks for your feedback. Sometimes a little knowledge is a bad thing and I should leave the technical stuff to the professionals!
It is a Miele G1270 SCVI

See that little plastic thing right in the middle, that’s the wrong way I’d imagine but there’s zero tech support on Miele (they don’t play nice with others) so I can’t tell you much else.

It’s simple don’t overthink it.
Get someone to take the door apart to flick the catch back into the correct position.
No tech info or photos required!

You don’t need to “take the door apart”. Just place a loop of stiff wire to hook under the catch and pull upwards…..simples.

I didn’t want to suggest that Martin due to poking a wire into a potentially live area (I know we tell them to unplug appliances) & if they pull it incorrectly the cost of a new lock…

The leak needs to be looked into too…
