Having trouble with the Creda Tumble dryer (T622CW).. After blowing the thermostats the old lady said that it had stopped and when it got going again it wouldn’t heat up. So I changed the relay and the condenser and that appeared to have sorted the problem. Did one drying cycle and it was okay – The next load stooped just as it entered the cooldown stage (10 minutes to go). It didn’t blow the thermos, so pretty lucky Put it on last night and it stopped with 45 minutes to go – gave the times a tweak forward and it started. Tried another cycle – stopped again mid cycle, gave the timer (mechanical)a tweak forward and off it went again. So I’m assuming the mechanical timer is at fault – or the bits that that sit behind it.
First any quick and cheerier fix that I can do, or second is it a new part and what is it /cost.The old lady is now hankering after a new one – we’ve had this one 10 years and it getting really (well at least in her eyes) unreliable. So I’m under pressure to get it done quickly and cheaply.
Thanks in advanceGeorge

By condenser I assume you mean the capacitor, condenser was the old UK name for the capacitor but is rarely used these days.
Does sound like the timer, part number C00207243, around £45.

Thanks for the reply iadom, first time I’ve had the chance to reply.
Just a bit more information from me, when the timer stops it keeps on ticking and moving. Not knowing how it works or what it’s moving, with these additional symptoms will it still be a timer fault. Think I better get it fixed first time or she’ll be straight in the car and off to Curry’s to get a new machine – with or without me :rolls: impulsive.

That a bit of a contradiction surely? ‘When it stops it keeps moving’ ?????
99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time if the timer sticks mid cycle then the timer is at fault.
If there is a problem with the internal cogs and wheels, most of which are plastic then you may still here the timer motor running but if any of the cogs are worn it could stick.

Apologies -should be careful with my wording. The tumble dryer stops, but the timer keeps ticking and moving.

Ah, as you have changed the relay and ‘capacitor’ it sounds like you have some dodgy contacts inside the timer, something that does happen.

Sometimes the knob itself can bind. Might be worth pulling it off and cleaning it up. Don’t push it back on so far when you refit it. If it still sticks then new timer required.

I think we have already ascertained that the knob is not sticking, after a few questions it was finally established that it was the drum/motor that was stopping, not the timer. 😉
