I have been advised that i may need a ‘heat insulation sheet’ between my cooker and hob.
    has anyone heard/used one.
If so, did it work and where can i get one?
    Many thanks again

I have no idea what that’s all about Clive, can you elaborate a bit and tell us what machines they are as well?

Re: Heat sheets. between cooker and hob?

I have an AEG B9971-4fan assisted oven , under a Smeg Se 2640TE ceramic hob.
i posted earlier about the error on the hob.
we have spoken to AEG and they recommended this ‘heat insulation sheet’
Suggesting we lay it between the oven and hob!?
but not saying where to get one!
If the error on the hob is ‘overheat’. is that a common problem with hobs above ‘built under’ ovens. if so how do you guys get over it?
i have not quite lost the plot with this problem……..yet.
As i am quite prepared to work with all of the relevant suppliers to sort it out.
i would also like to do my research first, just so i am prepared for any eventuality.
(Also i’m not sure how long i can keep the lid on my wife.)
    Many Thanks Clive uk.
PS. I am a copier engineer, and use the various copier forums on the net.
May i just say how friendly you all are here.
Trust me, its not like this on those forums.
    once again Thanks. Clive Uk

Well it’s a new one on me and, given we fit about 200 or so houses a year with appliances I’m pretty miffed that I don’t know about it.

An insulation of any sort, I should think, would only compund the issue and airflow is the answer if it’s a heat build-up issue.

Some of the Service Force guys will know the AEG oven better than I do, but I can tell you as a Smeg agent that I’ve not yet had that error in my patch.

Clive may be trying to explain a reflective sheet – some sort of base material cover with ali foil. Usually self-adhesive around the edges, stick on the work surface UNDER the hob. Supposed to reduce rate of heat transfer.

Never seen that P and certainly not with a Smeg hob. I should suspect that there may need to be an air gap introduced to the oven housing at the top section crossmember to the front to allow excess heat to dissipate, it’s the only way I can think of effectively reducing the heat build up, if that’s the problem. There are quite a few ovens out there that actually need this section removed to prevent overheating in the housing but I would have thought that an AEG would have been okay on that count, but not knowing the appliance I can’t really comment on that.

The larger B&Q Stores stock heavy duty aluminium cupboard lining. Sold in sheets and can be cut to fit. Perfect as a reflective shield in wooded (MDF) oven cabinets!

Ask in their Fitted Kitchen Department 😉
