Heater elememt Whirlpool AWG210/7

The heater element on my tumble dryer is failing to heat up, if possible could someone advise me what the expected resistance would be, one element measures 10 Ohm the other 13 Ohm, a quick web search says that I should have expected something around 30 ohm.
All measurments taken with the elements fully disconnected.

Bit on the low side…….. Best bet is to check out the thermostats – the one on the back panel is a shocker for failing, the exhaust one can go intermittent for good measure.

Penguin thanks for the quick reply.

After powering off of course, the heater plate thermostat measures 0.3 ohm, the exhaust one also measures 0.3 ohm, the test leads on my meter also read 0.3 ohm. So both looking short circuit guess this good ??

Yup, normally closed is good. Not the little red reset button tripped? Often overlooked…… 😀 .

Switching at timer possibly?

Thanks yet again, I found the little red switch when pulling the machine out, measured this and again 0.3 ohm. I have disconnected the thermostat where it connects on to the heater terminal and measured between this and the live terminal, with the timer OFF I get open circuit, with it set I get about 1.2 ohm. I am not sure how the timer works so not sure if this is what is supposed to happen.
By the way when everything is connected and the power ON (fingers out of the way) the motor turns whenever the timer is set.

Really only leaves the heater itself then, providing you’re confident with your test procedures.

I’d expect 30-40 ohms on each element usually, so if everything is switching/in circuit, that’s all that’s left.

Penguin, I’ve checked all measurements again so pretty confident that their correct so I’ll get a heater element ordered, at £15 its a bargain, first thing wrong in about 18 years so can’t complain.
