Had a 6E error code on Samsung P1253 washing machine. Did a continuity test on heater element. The multi meter buzzed to confirm continuity but with momentary breaks every ( estimated ) 0.25ths of a second to 3 seconds. I took this to be faulty even though the resistance measurements where about correct.
Ordered a new Samsung heater element, DC4700013. Tested it before fitting and got the same results as with the one I was replacing.Are these both faulty or something else?

the meter has a buzz facility to check wiring continuity. when measuring low resistance components like heaters it sometimes will buzz. Ignore the buzz and look at the resistance that the important one, but saying that it would not have buzzed if it had been faulty

Faulty if it did not buzz at all but buzzing on and off intermittently is ok?

You won’t get an intermittent fault with a heating element. As Dave says above, check the resistance.

Thank you for help. Would like to have known why my multi meter produced results of continuous breaks in continuity with these elements. Good news is that due to your response Dave, I refitted the element, replaced carbon brushes that I had swapped around nearly a year ago when the drum would not turn. Had already cleaned main board and other areas of carbon dust just in case it could cause electrical issues. I assume it could still conduct electricity. The machine is doing a wash load as I type with element working and no error codes. In future this and what you have said Bazza500, resistance and not continuity will be the test. Thanks.
