ParticipantHello chaps
I am looking for a new source/brand of free standing washer dryers that can be height reduced ( remove lid and fit the manufacturers own height reduction plate) to allow fitment under work tops less than 850h.
With the larger drums now needing more room so fascias now are part of the lid, it is a problem. So….does anyone know of a current machine?
Many thanks

They were who we used, but they now have stopped…as have Zanussi. It would seem the only make that do one is Miele, but it’s nice to have cheaper options;)

Sorry chaps, I think you’re missing my question. It is if you know of any machines that can still be height reduced. The current trend is to include the fascia into the lid and therein lies the problem. So I am trying to find a non-Miele washer dryer that can have it’s lid removed and replace the lid with the correct plate.

Not really, what you refer to is back to the days of the old style ‘stacking kit’ type installations. Where a metal plate was covered under the stacked dryer. Virtually nothing of the sort is available these days short of buying a 10 gauge sheet of aluminium and cutting it to size. Or the cheapskate, less safe version, a sheet of 3 ply.

Yes, the now defunct idea of having a lid removeable to replace by a correct metal lid for when the washer dryer is under a worktop and not 850h, or for when someone wants to replace an integrated washer dryer with a freestanding version. Sadly lots of kitchens don’t have fitters who have even considered the future when the kitchen was put in.
It’s not that old a thing to have been using……especially in town:) -
