ParticipantWelcome to eastlmark, In case you need introducing to the others within this exclusive bunch, my I enlighten you: –
First of all there’s kwatt otherwise known as The Boss and answers to the name of Sir!….Tip: Be nice to him 😉
Then there’s Dave_Conway otherwise known as DC. For a West Country bumpkin, he’s a pretty knowlegable chap and well worth making friends with I reckon. 🙂
Moving down the bus we bump into kheath. The slap-head from South Yorkshire, and not a bad sort really, again it’s good to have him as a friend. Tip:…. you wouldn’t want to be his enemy 😉
Del is a tax exile on the tropical isle of Anglesey, grows a lot of Leeks and Daffodils in his spare time to cover up the fact he’s an Englishman hiding behind them in Wales 🙂
Penguin45…Ice wouldn’t melt in the mouth of this aquatic wonder bird. What he doesn’t know about fish ain’t worth tuppence 😀
Then there’s me I suppose 😕 Not wishing to blow my own trumpet I will save that for others, suffice to say that lots has been said and written about me already so I won’t bore you 😀
You have a hell of a lot to read within this forum so I won’t detain you further except to say welcome 8)

ParticipantMark,
Commit to memory:“If you have any doubts about your abilities, get professional help. Whatever you do, pull the plug first”.
After the first 20 times, you can type it with your eyes shut. :lol2:
Welcome on board,

Is that referring to me? 😯
I am neither from Hertfordshire and, a rarity in this forum (excepting young Ken) have all my own hair thank you. Oh and Chris of course.Thank you for the welcome, although I know all of you anyhow having been a veteran of the old Yahoo forum before some of you lot were even around.
I have been catching up here, and I thought the subscribers forum was the inner circle…… hope they dont feel left out in there…… got all your mobile numbers which are always useful to have when coming home drunk on the nightbus and i am really not going to even ask what the Northern Kamp was.
seriously though, not yet sure how or what to moderate. if we see a dodgy post is it one big race to be the first to delete it?
Anyhow thanks again all.
Mark

KeymasterYeah Mark, look for the dodgy posts and the multiple ones, the rule is delete from the last one up the way, that way we avoid the “oops Ken and Dave deleted the lot” scenario! 😆

ParticipantAnd stop the punters killing themselves…….
Personally, I’ve never had a problem with electric shocks, it’s all the screaming I can’t stand
!Just occasionally you need to step in where something is wrong/dangerously wrong/abusive/product placement/ mad; well you get the idea.
Occasionally you’ll need to exert a bit of influence – it becomes clear very quickly those who have any technical ability and those who need an engineer. Point the rest at the Shop@ bit and UKW will make a few bob, which has got to be good! We still have relatively “unknown” or new members posting to the public and they tend to be the ones that need watching.
All common sense in the end.
Cheers,
Chris.PS – Yes I KNOW I sent the Hoover tumble dryer man on a wild goose chase for a microtemp – he SHOULD have bought the heater in the Shop!

Yeah P, but like that guy “conaero” if they are determined to fix it for free we’re not going to stop them, the trick is not to give them too much information. Now, since he’s gone and told us where the info came fom and he fries himself then he only has himself or the chap Simon to blame.
Thing is there’s a lot of have-a-go-heroes out there that really should leave the things alone and I count myself among them! 😆
But you’re right a bit of gentle persuasion usually does the trick and normally you get the feel for whether the punter is capable or not, just common sense really as you say.
As to the abuse posts, we don’t actually get many at all and that’s probably because people can see that the forums and the site in general is well policed for any crap.
