Help/advice oven door – BEKO SCG 7521 W gas cooker

Hello,

Was hoping to get some DIY advice on how to fix a small issue. I got this BEKO SCG 7521 W gas cooker (used) for free from a friend to replace my other BEKO gas cooker (DVG 593). The main oven door doesn’t close all the way at the top. A small crack is left (see images) where all the heat just poors out, a huge was of energy. I have removed the cover of the door and the hinges seem to be in good working order and secured to the door quite well so don’t know if there is something bent or what.

Question 1- Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue might be and how to fix it?

Question 2 – Any suggestions on cheap DIY tricks or hacks to keep the door closed all the way at the top during use? (ex. I thought of installing a latch on one side of the door perhaps)

Any help and suggestions would be super helpful and many thanks for your time in advance.

its either the hinges or the hinge receivers. most likely the hinges ( but I cant guarantee )

No the spring tension is lower so it wont hold the door weight

Thanks again for the reply. I think I found what the culprit is and would kindly ask for confirmation.

The hinge works fine, and there doesn’t seem to be any untoward wear and tear on the receiver or the hinge itself. Upon close inspection I noticed that it is actually where the receive is fastened to the chasis/main body of the oven. I noticed there is a distinct bulge where the top end of the receiver screws in (see pics…difficult to see but you really notice it if you run your finger along the edge of the door opening).

This would fit with the theory that excess weight was put on the door while open so the receiver doesn’t sit exactly perpendicular to the door opening, hence the small gap at the top of the door when door is closed.

Question 1 – Is this correct?

Question 2 – Can I ‘hammer’ it back to flush by laying the oven on its back?

Question 3 – What would you do?

take it apart. remove the strength plates then straiten the plate on its own. casing is only light steel so it you put something heavy and straight behind it you should be able to tap it back to shape. Just like a panel beater would do on a bent car

this is what the receivers look like

there are 2 of them and left and right are opposites so wont interchange

Got it sorted. I was going to disassemble but BEKO doesn’t make it easy. I figured I would have had to disassemble half the oven just to get to the receiver and couldn’t find a technical manual or instructions online for the life of me. In the end I decided to take the hinge off the door, remove the top screw of the receiver, and insert the hinge inverted into the receiver, and just yank on it a bit until the edge was flush and the receiver was in oriented correctly. Worked like a charm!
