ParticipantModel: ADP5426
Model number: 050567009Hello, I have recenly moved into a new property, which has a Diplomat 5426
range installed in the kitchen (looks lovely).
Unfortunately, it appears to have one issue:1. When the power is switched on to the range, the top oven switches on and warms up, even when the dial is in the off position. To clarify, the oven indicator light is not on. The temperature appears to be quite low – also I think the oven is cooking at a far too high temperature to what is set (burnt marks on top of oven door, perhaps someone left the grill on with door closed?)the oven works, but that’s all.
Having looked at previous posts, I have a feeling it may be the thermostats, but as I am a novice with these issues, I’m hoping someone here would be able to help. A big thank you in advance, I will be checking for replies incase more information is required.

Either an earth leak through an element or a faulty selector switch would be my thoughts. The thermostats are simple on/off devices, so a failure in the closed position would result in full heat pretty sharpish.
Awkward one to get right without a test meter and an insulation tester – pro help may well be your best option.
Power off if you do intend to hae a look t this yourself.

It will be the thermostat faulty, the original part is now obsolete and to get the correct one you will need to know the actual purchase date as there are 2 versions of the top oven stat, I seriously recommend you get a qualified Engineer for this repair.
The appliance is branded Diplomat but it is manufactured by Stoves, parts are available for it but you need to know if it was purchased before or after 6/6/00

ParticipantJonah and Penguin, thanks for the replies. Looks like i will require an engineer to do the work here. Hopefully I have a competent company near me who knows how to fix these types of appliances!
