    Hi,
A while ago our machine failed, motor sparking and weak, brushes had failed. I bent the brass terminal a little bit to allow the carbon to come out a bit further, so the machine would run while I ordered new brushes.
Yesterday I decided to fit the new brushes, no problem, the machine ran fine at first, but did not complete the cycle, stopped on final rinsing. No lights on the panel. Checked plug fuse, socket, ok. Nothing looks burnt, no smells.
I could get a new mains suppressor easily so I changed that, no different.
There is a live to the green wire on the door interlock.
Does this interlock cut the power to everything? Can anyone tell me how to check the door lock? Or what to check next?
    Many thanks!!

    Hi Martin,
That’s not much help to me, but I appreciate you are being careful. I am a professional in another branch of engineering and I am making sure I know what I am dealing with before I take action – what’s wrong with that?
Any tips on the door interlock would be very welcome!

Afraid I have to agree with my colleague, trying to force a motor to run with worn brushes, changing parts that are not faulty on the off chance they may solve the problem, live testing etc.

All suggest that this is not your field of expertise.

A door lock fault should not cause all lights to fail, a motor damaged by running with worn brushes could in turn damage the main PCB.
