ParticipantFirst post, looking for help!
A friend brought me the control panel from his washing machine, made by the now defunkt ISE.
A switching IC in the power supply has “let out the smoke”, unfortunately the top of the IC has blown off (and cannot be found) so we are left trying to identify it.
It’s an 8-pin DIL device. Pins 1, 2, 7 & 8 are ground/heatsink, pin 5 is connected to the switching transformer and 3 & 4 are connected to a couple of feedback? resistors and the on-standby toggle switch.
I’ve removed the chip and there is noting on the underside to identify it.
Any help/hints gratefully received, TIA.

ModeratorWe don’t have any board level info at all. That said when an IC blows like that there is sadly an expensive reason elsewhere that has caused it. 🙁
PS. There are several different models of ISE, all with different pcb’s.
If you are using a Windows PC you can get a direct hyperlink to any image in your One Drive pictures folder.

ParticipantHi @Iadom.
Many thanks for your quick reply.
I understand what you say about ‘exploding’ ICs, I’ve spent many years repairing satellite receivers, amps, TV’s etc. and I always look for the underlying cause before risking a new IC. Often enough there is nothing in the unit itself, we just have to put it down to an external cause like a power spike.
This is a particularly low power smps, basically a standby circuit. So far I can’t find any problems in the primary or secondary circuits so am reasonably confident (cough) that a new IC will sort it.
I’m more than happy to sift through the images to hopefully spot the offending panel (I’ve not seen the machine itself – it’s in England and I’m in Portugal!) but I do have the front panel & hopefully the owner will know the model number.
Where do I find these images – and do I simply copy them across to my Onedrive? (I have it on my Win10 PC but I’ve never used it).
Thanks again, apologies for being so ‘green’.November 8, 2019 at 11:15 pm #464466iadom
ModeratorWhen you say ‘front panel’ do you mean the full plastic facia of the machine? If so then the model number is usually on that. The ISE range covered entry level spec to very high quality machines. From manufacturers in Turkey, Poland and Sweden all very different machines internally.
I only discovered how easy it was to get a link to my PC’s pictures folder quite recently. My previous Windows phone and my current Samsung/Android phone are linked to my One Drive and all images are automatically uploaded to One Drive which also synchronises with any other pictures I have uploaded from my digital camera or even images sent to me via WhatsApp. When I go to the Pictures app on my PC it loads them all for me to see, edit, copy etc. There is also an option to send any image which generates a unique hyperlink that you can copy and paste into an email or a forum post etc. Mind boggling for sure.:)

Moderatorit does sound like a power supply chip that’s popped and yes I agree that if you knew the chip number replacing it could well cure the pcb. unfortunately as iadom says that sort of info is not available so you rely on finding the old chip to identify it. most of these chips are 7 pin devices either tny*** or lnk*** I think from memory so being 8 pin makes it unusual
if you come up with a model number we may be able to find a pic of the board but its a long shotDave

ParticipantMany thanks for your replies guys, it gives me something to work on…. when I get a minute! It IS a 7-pin device Dave, I assumed the 8th pin had been cut off as it wasn’t used. In face I have a couple of TNY devices on old boards in my scrapheap so I shall be looking closely at those.
Yes iadom, I do have the full front fascia, but it only reveals the brand, no sign of a model number unfortunately. My latest Win10 PC kept badgering me with MS Drive ‘reminders’ which I managed to turn off, I’ll have a look at getting that going.
I’ll keep you posted, thanks again 🙂November 10, 2019 at 10:33 am #464469iadom
ModeratorModel number is on the soap drawer on some models. The fact you don’t have a model number on the facia possibly rules out the high spec ISE 10 range. This a pcb for one of those.

ModeratorThis is very similar to the pcb used in the BEKO made ISE machines.

ParticipantI have the model number! It had been all but polished off (perhaps an OCD wife?), close inspection reveals that it is a W1607W, and the inside of the front panel looks very much like the one in the link in your post #7 iadom.

ModeratorYes, that is an ISE10, top quality machine made in Sweden. Believe it or not I have the exact same machine. If you can get some better pictures and possibly host them online or better still I will PM you an email address and you can send them to me. If the worst comes to the worst I could open up my machine but would rather avoid that if possible. Also better pictures would give me an idea of the position of the IC in question.

ModeratorIt is the first one I linked to Dave, they don’t show the component side sadly, just had a look through the manual and no pictures there either.
That part number, 8088613 is the correct official number but Googling it just gives the on site shop as the only hit, nothing apparently lying around on Ebay etc. 🙁

Moderatorall you can hope is someone get called out to one and is good enough to take a pic of the chip
have you had a good look around for the top of the chip. had a bosch dishwasher with a similar fault and managed with a bit of searching to find the chip lid and identify it
