hi
2nd and 4th lights indicate that the heater is open circuit. Suggest that you get some with a meter capable of reading resistance to check the element is o/c and not a fault in the wiring.
Elements can be purchased from ukwhitegoods shop. Please switch off and unplug before investigating

thanks geoff
my husband is going to test it, and he asked if disconecting the heater element would allow it to reset thus conferming the diagnosis.and what setting on the meter would you test with.and what would be the rating.he has an electrical meter tester.
and thank you for the advice.

Element should read approx 25-30 ohms when spilt from the circuit. There is no re-set facility on this appliance.
Element is HERE if required. This is the “in cavity” one and is generally reliable. If it proves to be OK, it will be the pcb at fault and you will need to think seriously about whether you want to replace it. Achilles heel and all that.
Stay safe, power off when working on the machine.

no, it’s normal,as the outer case of the element is usually copper or copper/nickel (which go green in water.)
the element needs to be tested, electrically (assuming there are no cracks/splits/holes in it’s casing which would let water into the “innards” )
resistance between the element terminals = ~25-30 ohms
resistance, either element terminal to casing (earth)= infinity NO movement on an analogue meter-needle – megohms for digital.if high res. element = burnt out
if low res. element = partially shorted
if low res. earth to element = shorted to earthall are fault conditions and the heater is scrap.

no…it’s not like a pinball-table 😆
most likely there was a poor connection and the removal/refitting /moving wires around has made the joint good again.
