16 year-old Indesit integrated fridge freezer IN CB310 UK working until 3 weeks ago.

Fridge partially freezing. Salad drawers freezing items and back wall partially iced over.

    Freezer OK. Door seals OK.

Thermostat has never been adjusted, always set to #1 i.e. warmest.

    Have tried defrosting.

Should I try changing the thermostat?

    thanks in advance.

To be sure you’d really need temp readings from the freezer as I suspect that it’s running too much from what you describe but, is it the thermostat or something more nefarious

    it’s this style thermostat.

I’ll try to get some freezer termp readings.

If the unit is running all the time it’s probably the thermostat, it just depends on how cold it’s getting really as at times they can do weird things.

Have placed the bulb of a thermometer in oil and placed it in the salad drawer. One hour on and it’s -2C.

Guess I’m really asking: £50 to replace thermostat or call it quits on a 16 year-old unit and replace it?

To be fair, that’s a good question, and if it were me, I don’t think I’d spend that on a unit that old.
