HELP – looking for island hood suitable for low ceiling

We’ve got a 5 ring gas hob on an island in our kitchen and I’m trying to source an island hood (to vent to the outside) that will work with this and a ceiling height of around 7’6″ . The problem is that all of the ones I have found so far put the hood too close to the hob when at their minimum size.

Any clues where I can search next?

If you have exhausted all the usual brand names you could try Elica. On the other hand Blanco by Gutmann will make virtually any hood to your own spec, just be warned it comes at a price though.

Thanks. been looking at Elica and nothing goes short enough – there is a short version of their Iceberg but that ends up at nose height and questionably too close to the hob.

If you have space you could also use a downdraft extractor, it could be an option but it too is not a cheap one. From memory I believe that Elica do that as well.

I’d have to check the rest of the ranges to be sure of the minimum heights that the hoods can drop but, from memory the hood must be at least an absolute minimum of 650mm from the hob if it’s gas and 600mm for electric. Any less that that and you will have problems.
