looking to buy our first washing machine for our first home

knowing nothing about them I’m looking for advice, on a budget of £450.

I was thinking bosch , however Panasonic are offering 6 year parts and labour warranties presently which seems very tempting, any one had any experience with them at all.

    thanks

    Hi,
Do yourself a favour and go for the Bosch, You only get a two year guarantee but so much better quality than the Panasonic. When the guarantee expires on the Panasonic you will struggle to find anyone to look at the machine because of difficulty in souring parts and technical info.

…Or go for Gorenje. 5 years guarantee and spares are easily got.

Read mixed opinions on the bottom end bosch machines which I suppose is probably the case with all the lower end machines.

Can I get a grengie or whatever it is called for under £450

a few people have said lg to me aswell

Gorenje 6kg 1200spin around £320 up to 9kg 1600 spin for around £440. They do 7kg and 8kg machines in between those prices. Check with the retailer as only some models come with the 5 year promotional guarantee and they must be registered online within 28 days.

where would I get a gorenje, as said been told a zanussi and lg are good but if im honest the zanussi look a bit plain and bland and I know I shouldn’t buy a washer based on looks but if I could get a good one that also looked fairly nice aswell that would be a bonus

We’ve got a Panasonic and to be fair it’s been a great machine. Have to wait till it goes wrong to see how bad they are

look if you dont want to take advice from people who know then dont its all right having a great 6 yr gtee but if its not working and if theres no parts in the engineers van it aint no good.ive worked on them and they are horrible machines.buy a bosch for that price.

To be fair Al, John says they’re horrid to work on as well and I have heard others say likewise.

The cheaper ones are just Vestel (for now) so they’re just standard fare really.

ok cheers for info guys will bare this all in mind may have to have another look around

LG seem a little bit more pricey at around £450, so the panny and bosch are the cheaper ones, think I saw the bosch model I liked for £399
