ParticipantGood Day Whitegoods elves,
I find myself in need of a freezer to place in a garage, this is to hold gluten-free bread for the most part and maybe a few other items at Christmas.
My main fridge/freezer is a Liebhurr and realise the benefits of a good quality product (this thing extends food life unbelievably!)The garage is secure and attached to the house, so ambient temperature never falls too far even in winter (I think the coldest has been 7deg and warmest about 26deg).
Type – freestanding
Height wise – less than 900mm
width around 550mm , but certainly less than 600mm
Drawers would be better, and was thinking 3
Price – hopefully less than £250.I’ve done the usual searching called in to local large store retailers and still none the wiser… if I had to buy one without thinking too hard is this OK Beko FXS5043?
or should I look at something else/different manufacturer?Help…

Hi
Short answer is no there are none which are suitable for the garage environment as refrigeration needs 10 degrees C in which to operate. A good read here from our installation guide.
However Beko freezer guard down to minus 15 degrees and now Hotpoint are saying non frost free freezers are good down to minus 10 IIRC neither manufacturer has been able to provide documentary evidence when asked.

You’ll find the Beko will be just fine in the garage. I too have a similar garage set-up as you with a tall Beko freezer, and Beko fridge/freezer and a Currys branded wine cooler all alongside one another. The winter temperature in there easily falls down close to freezing though I never troubled to check the temperature in there to be honest. Though the air can get cool in there it is very dry and draft free as both doors are well sealed with no dampness whatsoever.

thanks chaps….
I realise that the garage isn’t the best place due to temp fluctuations but other than a really cold winter when it dropped to 7deg, in the garage but-5 outside, it’s pretty much stays above 10deg. I also thought as it’s only bread not meat or fish it should be OK. -
